Places to Go When You Visit Empress Alberta


There are many places to go on foot or by car when you visit Empress...the eastern gateway to the Canadian Badlands.

The village straddles the Alberta Saskatchewan border in an area that's home to ranchers and dry-land farmers.

Empress Station Museum

The Empress & District Historical Society has worked for more than a decade to restore the old CPR station to its former glory. The grand opening of the (mostly completed) museum will be on Saturday July 19th 2014 as part of the village Centennial Celebrations.

Catalogue House Tour
Along Hwy 41 from Oyen to Empress

Take a self-conducted drive-by tour of  Eatons, Alladin and United Grain Grower catalogue homes that were built by pioneers early in the last century.  To find out how to obtain a map and for more details click here.


Prairie Elevator Museum
Acadia Valley on Highway 41

Since 1991, the old Alberta Wheat Pool elevator acts has been open every summer as an interactive museum.  The equipment still operable.

The Tea Room is open next door in an old Eatons catalogue House.

Open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm seven days a week during July and August.
